A project delivered by the VONTEQ team. Ask us for the figures and how we got to them.
An online florist delivering across Bucharest. A Magento 2 store moved from the Luma theme to Hyvä, with a difficult traffic profile: sales concentrate into a handful of days a year, when the store has to withstand dozens of times its normal traffic.
A store that has to survive International Women's Day
A florist doesn't have even traffic. It has a few days a year — 8 March, Valentine's Day, Mother's Day — that carry a disproportionate share of the annual figure. A heavy frontend doesn't matter on an ordinary Tuesday; on one of those days, every millisecond of rendering is multiplied by thousands of simultaneous sessions.
- Traffic peaks concentrated into a few days a year
- A catalogue that changes completely from season to season
- A bilingual store, with delivery time slots
Platform
Magento 2 + Hyvä
Verifiable in the store's own source: Hyvä markup with Alpine.js, with no Knockout/RequireJS stack.
On Hyvä at least since
December 2023
The earliest complete archive capture of the store already contains Hyvä markup. Earlier captures are placeholder pages, so the exact migration date can't be established from the archive.

Before and after
How it looked, and how it looks
Here, unlike Rogri, the migration came with a new shopfront. Both approaches are valid — the choice depends on how much risk you want to take at once.

- Knockout.js
- RequireJS
- jQuery
- Alpine.js
- Tailwind CSS
The previous version, on the Luma theme
- Knockout.js
- RequireJS
- jQuery
Today — Magento 2 on Hyvä
- Alpine.js
- Tailwind CSS
How we worked
The project stages
Audit
What's holding the store back
We started from measurements on real data rather than impressions: what blocks rendering, how much JavaScript goes to the browser, and which extensions are responsible.
Rebuild
A new frontend on Hyvä
The components were rewritten in Alpine.js and Tailwind, with attention to the pages that matter at peak: the category, the product page and the cart. The rest of the store can wait; those three can't.
Season and languages
A seasonal catalogue and a second language
The structure lets the whole shopfront change between seasons without development work, and the second language is served from the same codebase rather than from a cloned store.
After launch
Monitoring through the peaks
We watch Core Web Vitals on field data, not just in the lab — the only measurement that matters is the one taken on real customers' phones, on the day they all buy at once.
What's still to come in this case study
We would rather say what we haven't measured yet than put up a number we can't stand behind. Coming, with a date and a method:
- Mobile PageSpeed score, before and after
- How the store behaved at the 8 March peak, compared year on year
- The exact migration date
